/particles

Being a derivative of the series Urban Elements, which focussed on cubic geometries and the contrast between patina and a clean setting, Particles is an effort to compress the character of a given place into a somewhat standardised geometric form. The cubes are made up of found objects. In these places like car parks, streets, or urban wastelands, they are so widespread they become unnoticeable. Whereas some of the images hint at geological layers, supporting the notion of the Anthropocene we live in, others work as rather aesthetic reflections of colours and shapes. The series poses the question what the objects reveal about the place and its usage, be it the traces of unhealthy diets found in a sports ground or an omnipresence of pharmaceuticals. Although the work does not follow an environmentalist approach, it still holds a socio-political aspect.
